Literacy & Community

Literacy & Community

Reading opens doors. Let’s open more of them together.

Since 2014, Green Mango Books has brought readers together through literacy programs, multilingual readings, school and library engagement, and community partnerships. Now we’re inviting readers everywhere to help shape what comes next.

What we can build together

Programs begin with real needs, not assumptions.

These are the kinds of literacy and community collaborations Green Mango Books is prepared to explore. Each project will be shaped with the participating school, library, educator, or organization.

01

Community readings

Live or virtual conversations that make reading social, welcoming, and easier to begin.

02

School & library partnerships

Reading lists, events, book-centered activities, and collaborative ideas designed around a specific group of readers.

03

Multilingual storytelling

Programs that respect language and cultural connection while helping families experience stories together.

04

Book-access projects

Partnership-led efforts that connect books with communities where access, visibility, or participation needs support.

Community questions

Before you join or reach out.

Is the online book club open now?

The interest list is open now. Green Mango Books will announce the first selection and virtual discussion date after confirming enough reader interest and a workable schedule.

Does it cost anything to join the interest list?

No. Joining the interest list is free and does not require a purchase.

Who can propose a literacy or community partnership?

Schools, libraries, educators, literacy groups, community organizations, and mission-aligned businesses are welcome to contact us. A submission starts a conversation and does not guarantee that a program can be scheduled.

Are Green Mango Books programs limited to Mississippi?

Green Mango Books is based in Jackson, Mississippi, and serves readers throughout the United States. Some collaborations may be virtual, while location-specific activities will depend on the project and participating partners.

Can I make a charitable donation through this page?

Not at this time. Green Mango Books does not present purchases or payments as tax-deductible charitable contributions. Any future giving initiative will identify the participating organization, the purpose, and how the program works before funds are accepted.

Your invitation is open

Every reading community starts with someone deciding to take part.

Join the interest list, bring us a partnership idea, or simply stay close as Green Mango Books begins its next chapter of literacy and community work.
